Mario's Next Movie Is Out of This World
Well, it's official. After a little tease during the last Nintendo Direct, we finally have a full trailer for The Super Mario Galaxy movie, and it looks like Mario's next adventure is blasting off into space.
The sequel to the smash-hit The Super Mario Bros. Movie is set to hit theaters on April 3, 2026. A brand new trailer just dropped, giving us a real taste of the cosmic journey ahead.

Familiar Faces and New Stars
The whole gang is back. We're talking Chris Pratt (movies and tv series) as Mario, Anya Taylor-Joy (movies and tv series) as Princess Peach, Charlie Day (movies and tv series) as Luigi, and of course, Jack Black (movies and tv series) as Bowser. It just wouldn't be the same without them.
But there are some exciting new additions to the cast. Brie Larson (movies and tv series) (Captain Marvel) is joining as Princess Rosalina, and get this-she's a huge Mario Galaxy fan in real life. We're also getting Benny Safdie (movies and tv series) (Oppenheimer) as the mischievous Bowser Jr. The trailer is packed with little nods and secrets for fans, and it's clear they're leaning into the source material.
Building on a Billion-Dollar Success
Let's be honest, the first film set a high bar. The Super Mario Bros. Movie wasn't just a success; it was a phenomenon, raking in over $1.36 billion globally to become the biggest video game movie ever. And who could forget Jack Black's "Peaches" song dominating the internet for a few months?
It also looks like we're finally getting a fan-favorite character. A recent leak from a Pillsbury box, of all places, gave us what seems to be the first peek at Yoshi, Mario's trusty dinosaur pal.
A Busy Time for Video Game Movies
This movie is part of a bigger trend. It feels like Hollywood is really embracing video games right now. We've got a live-action Silent Hill 2 coming on January 23, 2026, and filming is already happening for a new Resident Evil movie. Plus, Mortal Kombat 2 is slated for May 8, 2026.
And if you can't wait that long for your video game movie fix, Five Nights at Freddy's 2 is just around the corner, releasing on December 5.
